Rotpunkt has a long history of providing top quality products. Halo Interiors designs and installs Rotpunkt's range of kitchens. Here we look at its 90-year history to see how the company evolved and innovated to ensure it is still just as productive (if not more) than when it first started.
The company was founded in Buende by Heinrich Rabe and Wilhelm Meyer in 1930. Rotpunkt started its life as a cigar box factory because, at the time, Buende was the heart of the cigar-making industry.
Between 1939 and 1948, the war and the subsequent currency reform meant that many families could only afford to purchase the absolute everyday essentials. So as not to rely solely on one product, Rabe and Meyer decided to use their wood processing machinery to produce both children's toys and sewing boxes. These innovations to their business helped them navigate through this traditional period, but it wasn't without its hurdles. Up until 1946, they hadn't needed to use large quantities of paint. The sewing boxes they had been contracted to create needed to be painted white. To allow them to manufacture this product, they incorporated a painting room. Solving this problem meant they could use their newly acquired knowledge in painting on a larger scale for their kitchen manufacturing enterprise.
In 1950, Rotpunkt first manufactured a kitchen sideboard or so-called 'buffet-style kitchen'. This freestanding kitchen comprised of a lower and upper section designed to hold plates, cutlery and food. These were hugely popular and demand was high which in turn meant Rotpunkt needed larger premises.
Once they constructed their new warehouse (which underwent expansion more than once to accommodate their growing business) they cemented their place in the kitchen furniture building industry. They went on to create Swedish style built-in kitchens with standardised cabinets in 1958 and later modular kitchens (like we see today) in 1967. The end of production for their mainstay product, cigar boxes, was secured in 1968.
The now internally renowned kitchen brand, once known as 'Rabe & Meyer', was rebranded to 'Rotpunkt' in 1982. Since their rebrand, Rotpunkt has created colour matched cabinetry, handleless doors (2005) and their innovation has only sped up in the last 16 years. They launched their Greenline BioBoard in 2015, converted the interior appearances of their fittings and drawers in 2017 and were certified as having carbon-neutral production in 2020.
This family-run business now employs over 300 staff members! If you'd like to incorporate high-quality, German design and craftsmanship into your home, visit our showroom. You can see our two Rotpunkt display kitchens and discuss how to create your own.
The Bootility room (yes, you are reading that right we haven't misspelt utility) is growing in popularity. Many of us have had to rethink the way we use our homes during the pandemic. Kitchens became homeschools, offices and where we (relentlessly) prepared all our meals during the lockdown.
Now, with the easing of government restrictions, our kitchen will hopefully be used for more social occasions. The new trend for open spaces that connect the indoors and outdoors spaces to create impactful and useable space. But, having a utility or Bootility enhances the way you can use your home. Isolating louder appliances, like washing machines and dryers, will provide a much more serene environment in which to socialise or indeed continue to work from home as many businesses explore a combination of virtual and office-based work. So that means no more spin cycles during your conference calls!
The Bootility, which is a functional room for everything from your appliances to pet food storage, to boot/coat/shoe and sink is a great way to keep your open-plan space from feeling cluttered. It also provides additional hygiene as there should be less transfer of mud and outdoor debris from more practical tasks entering the kitchen.
Just because the area is practical, doesn't mean it can't look great and feel like an extension of your kitchen. Using the same style cabinet and worktop as you have in your kitchen will create a cohesive design (and you won't feel like Cinderella!).
So if you want to explore what a new kitchen with a separate Bootility room could do for your home, contact us today or visit our showroom.

Life can be busy and finding the time to cook from scratch can sometimes be hard. If you are creating a new kitchen for your home you will no doubt want to make the most of it and hone your cookery skills. To save time and produce wonderful home-cooked meals, Siemens IQ700 Studioline has a varioSpeed function. Variospeed combines an integrated microwave with the oven to cook in half the time of a standard appliance without comprising the quality of your food.
If you love to bake, the bakingSensor and pureSteam functions will be the perfect companions to create delicious baked goods. The bakingSensor automatically monitors the humidity in the oven so it can tell when your dish is ready. The pureSteam function helps you reheat dishes without them drying out and provides moisture when baking so that bread will be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
It isn't just time-saving technology that redefines this range of appliances, its features like Home Connect which help you can control the temperature of the oven from your phone.
Got your hands full? No problem. With the Alexa Voice Assistant* you can tell your oven to open its doors with the voice-activated control. Now that is clever!
The time-saving functions don't stop there. Its activeClean® setting means the oven can heat to high temperatures (don't worry it locks during this cycle for safety) so residue can be easily wiped away from the specially coated interior to save time.
Finally, with the IQ700 range you can mix and match appliances that all have the same intricate details to create an integrated feature that looks flawless.

Halo Interiors specialise in English and German kitchen design. We work closely with the German kitchen manufacturer, Rotpunkt.
Rotpunkt will be undertaking a three-year, multi-million euro investment plan to boost its training capabilities and manufacturing. This hearty investment will see an increase in their factory space, a new showroom and training centre where their extensive product range will be displayed.
Rotpunkt also realise the importance of sourcing sustainable materials to aid the reduction of their carbon footprint. With this in mind, they are launching a collection of furniture this year focusing on sustainability, which will add to their already impressive sustainability credentials (read more here) which are certified by not only the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) but meet the F**** Standard for emissions of formaldehyde, CARB2, EO5 and Nordic Swan Standards for their Greenline BioBoard.
Matt Phillips, Head of UK Operations at Rotpunkt tells Creative Build Magazine “We strive to make every client feel part of the Rotpunkt family with our excellent customer service. That is the secret to our continued success. We pride ourselves on our attitude, our ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with the people we are working with, and our understanding of their needs and requirements." Induction hobs are growing in popularity and are increasingly the hob of choice for those installing new kitchens and are likely to dominate the market moving forward. Venting hobs combine the technology of induction cooking with slimline extraction seamlessly integrated into their design. This allows you to have more flexibility in where you place the hob in your new kitchen.
As well as looking more modern, sleek and streamlined, induction hobs are also more environmentally friendly. They are more energy-efficient than their gas counterparts and as they only heat the pan when it is in situ, do not lose excess heat.
NEFF N90 T58TL6EN2 hob is just one of their suite venting induction hobs. Here we explore the key features and benefits that make this the perfect hob for your home.
Automatic Air Sensor and Home Connect Technology
Smart technology is at the heart of the trend towards incorporating induction hobs into the home. Not only is the N90 T58TL6EN2 easily controlled from the Home Connect app on your phone it also uses automatic air sensor technology to sense steam and combat cooking aromas with the touch of a button. You won't need to manually adjust as it automatically turns itself up or down as and when needed.
Reduce background buzzing
You may already use an extractor to dispel steam and aromas from your kitchen. If yours makes an audible humming sound that you can hear in other rooms, you will love NEFF's reduced noise venting options. Their 90 T58TL6EN2 benefits from lower noise levels meaning you can hear the sizzle of your steak (or the radio if that is more your style)!
This hob features three separate cooking zones that provide boiling, simmering or warming heat. You can place your induction pan anywhere within the Flex Induction zone to heat it where it stands (as opposed to set hob rings other appliances have). You can also use the power transfer to move your pot and the hob will recognise the size of the pot and previous cooking temperature so it can transfer these settings to the new location.
You will also be able to use the cooking sensors to provide consistent levels of heat to stop overboiling and burning.
You only have to lift a finger
Lastly, you can control all the settings on your hob easily with the patented TwistPadFire®. this removable button is easy to use, easy to clean, easy to remove (leaving you that sleek, level surface when not in use and provides added safety for family homes.
If you are considering a new kitchen and would like some help to find the perfect hob for your home, talk to Halo Interiors today.
Making your kitchen more sustainable is something you may already be doing. If you recycle, prevent food waste, use eco-friendly cleaning products or even grow your own window ledge herbs, you are doing your bit to help keep our planet healthy. That being said, have you ever given any thought to how sustainable your actual kitchen is (think units, fixtures and fittings)? If you are looking for a new kitchen you needn't compromise the style or quality for it to be sustainable and kinder to the planet.
Halo Interiors work with kitchen supplier Rotpunkt to ensure our kitchens are sustainable as well as stylish. Rotpunkt kitchens use Greenline BioBoard which is made of, among other things, fast-growing yearly corn. Due to its high levels of natural compounds, it can be recycled, ensuring less material ends up in landfill.
The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is an international non-profit organisation for the protection and management of forests. Greenline BioBoard has been PEFC certified which means any wood used is guaranteed to come from sustainably managed forests.
BioBoards' accolades don't stop there, the new Greenline BioBoard Gen2 meets the worlds strictest standard for chipboard (F**** Standard for emissions of formaldehyde) and has CARB2, EO5 and Nordic Swan Standard eco-accreditations.
If that wasn't enough to convince you of Rotpunkt's dedication to sustainability, then their CO2 site balance sheet provides information about their reduced CO2 emissions and their energy-efficient machinery to keep them hitting their goal of 100% climate-neutral production.
So now you know you will be playing your part, why not browse some Rotpunkt kitchens? If you want to know how the new Rotpunkt kitchen could work for your home, contact us today.
Technology has been making it easier to work from home in the past few years, but the Coronavirus crisis has really increased the speed at which entire companies made working from home feasible. Some companies aren’t likely to reopen their offices for the foreseeable future and many companies will take the opportunity to downsize their expensive office space or encourage staff to work from home to maintain and adhere to social distancing rules.
Working from home can boost your productivity
Offices, by nature are a very communal place and a by-product of this is office noise. This may not register with some staff but could have a detrimental effect on other employees and their work. With your own home office, you can say goodbye to that colleague who is a little heavy handed with their keyboard.
No more commuting!
Surely this must be the number one win for working at home. The average commute in the UK is 59 minutes or a whole 221 hours a year! Working from home means you miss out on the morning traffic or the squeeze of a train carriage in rush hour, saving you time and money on your daily commute. This time can be better used to tackle the laundry, complete a morning fitness session to get your ready for your day or just spend a little more time with your family.
Custom your environment
You can set your own temperature, space and radio station (here are the top most productive styles of music for work) to make your day more comfortable. Halo Interiors can create a custom built office space in your home (in even the smallest space) to make sure that your home office is suiting your needs.
