SWITCH TO AN INDUCTION HOB

Introduction to induction hobs and why you should invest

Picture
Induction hobs are becoming ever-popular appliances in new kitchens. Their sleek, minimalist design helps them integrate into any style of kitchen and allows for an uninterrupted worktop, with the opportunity to flush or inset mount to suit your preference.

Why you should switch to an induction hob

Induction hobs use electrical current to quickly heat up compatible pans (those that contain iron) as opposed to heating the hob. This saves time and most importantly, energy. As the hob isn't heating the pan, induction can also be safer. There is a transfer of heat from the pan back to the hob but this should cool down faster than electric or gas hobs, which makes them slightly safer.

Induction hobs vary in style. You can choose from models that have fixed zones, similar to traditional gas and electric models. However, one of the unique advantages of some induction hobs is the ability to have flexible zones. This can mean linking two heating zones with a pan to create a larger area or indeed having one large cooking zone that can house up to six pots and pans.

It is important to note that if you have a pacemaker, induction hobs may pose a risk due to the use of electrical current.

Which induction hob will be best for you?

Induction has become such a staple in kitchen renovation and design that there's so much choice.

Siemens IQ700

The Siemens IQ700 allows flexibility in cooking zones. Simply place the pot or pan you wish to use anywhere on the hob and you'll see it appear on the TFT-Touchdisplay plus so you can control the temperature of each pan independently.

It also boosts cookingSensor Plus technology to monitor and maintain the chosen temperature to avoid overboiling.

You'll also be able to control your hob from your smartphone or tablet with its Home Connect capability. Find out more.

NEFF N90 induction hob with ventilation system

NEFF's fully integrating venting hob allows you more flexibility with your kitchen design. You won't need to plan the position of your hob in line with an overhead extractor that needs to be mounted to an external wall. This makes it a great choice for kitchen islands and allows you to automatically filter and recirculate cooking steam and neutralise aroma without compromising design.

Featuring flex induction which heats your pans wherever they are placed and TwistPadFire® dial that controls the hob but is removable making it easier to clean (and keep out of reach of children). Find out more here.

We're so used to seeing black glass induction hobs that this stainless steel version is a real standout. It features flexInduction that adapts to your cookware.

The touch slider allows temperature control with just a finger and its powerBoost option increases the power of the induction zone by up to 50%. Find out more.
