How to keep up with the 2022 kitchen trends
Having spent the last two years at home more than we usually would, it is little wonder that home improvement is in high demand. So, if you are thinking about updating your kitchen, we have all the latest kitchen trends for 2022.
Embracing colour
Over the past two years, there has been a shift to bolder cabinet colours and this shows no sign of changing for 2022. Continue to expect hues of green and blue which work wonderfully with metallic accents and natural wood tones. However, for the brave, red and matt black are the colours that are set to create an impact on kitchens in 2022.
Not sure you want to take the plunge with a completely coloured kitchen? Creating a two-tone kitchen using colour on lower cabinets can give you the best of both worlds. You can also confine colour to electronics like your kettle or toaster or even to splashback which is easier to replace in future. Maximising storage space
Storage never goes out of fashion and 2022 will be no different. To create a less cluttered space there is a trend towards large larders and easy-access drawers for our kitchen goods.
Hard-working kitchen
Speaking of maximising space, the kitchen may also need to be dual-purpose. We started this year being advised to work from home where possible and with hybrid-working looking likely to stay a new kitchen may create an opportunity to add an office area. Using the same cabinetry and worktop materials it can become a seamless design or be hidden behind larder style doors to reclaim space once the workday is over.
Layered lighting
See your kitchen in a different light (literally) with a layered lighting plan. Whether you use spotlights to create far-reaching light, under-cabinet for task lighting, pendant lighting over dining areas or LED strip lighting to change the mood, lighting is an important part of any kitchen. Layered lighting encompasses a number of these to create an ambience in one of the busiest rooms in the house.

According to Ideal Homes marble in our kitchens is a key trend for 2022. Complementing both contemporary and classic styles, marble's unique veined means your worktop will be bespoke to your home.
Don't have the budget for marble? Don't worry. Composite worktops, like Silestone by Cosentino's Etereal collection, combine highly scratch and stain-resistant properties and are designed to look like natural stone. Not only are they more cost-effective than marble but they are made in an eco-friendly way. Visit our showroom to discuss your new kitchen and how to incorporate these trends into your new kitchen.
